So what makes electric motor scooters a value for kids? When it comes to kids electric scooters the equation simplifies to speed: the faster the better. For concerned parents speed may be an issue. The idea of their child or teenager scooting along at 15 plus miles per hour is not an inviting prospect. However, electric scooters do not require gas, are nearly inaudible, and cheap electric scooters are easily found. What needs to be found is a compromise between the child’s desire for speed and the parents assurance for scooter safety.

Parents, every scooter will display speed on the specifications chart. If you are buying a powered scooter from a retail establishment it should be on the box. If not, go online and look for the purchased brand and it should not be too difficult to find the specifications. For convenience, scooters for sale online should have speeds posted below the product. Take solace in the fact that the posted speed for a given scooter be dramatically influenced by rider weight, terrain, and motor power. For example, many kids electric scooters are limited to a top speed of 15mph but more than likely will not see 10mph with a rider. Manufacturers list the maximum speed for a given scooter and do not take significant variables, such as rider weight and terrain, into account. As far as reliability, scooters are highly durable with differences residing in components. Think of a bike when purchasing your fist scooter. They all are made of durable metal but one may have wider tires, disc over pad brakes, slimmer seat etc. The same applies to scooters, they all come in different shapes and forms. You can pay upwards of $1500.00 for your scooter or as low as a $80.00 it depends on what you are looking for and your wallet can afford.

How can the information above be good news for kids? The simple answer is modifications. When both the parents and son or daughter feel as though they need more power, usually kids outgrow their current scooter rapidly, scooter upgrades can be a great project. There are many ways to increase speed through weight reduction and motor swapping that will increase speed. This can be a win-win for parents and kids alike. Kids can learn the mechanics of their scooters while disassembling it with a parent. Motor swapping and battery upgrades are easy enough to interchange and can be an exciting parent-child project.

The question of what do you ultimately buy depends on the age of your child. For younger children smaller cheap electric scooters, like the X-10, is an excellent starter scooter. X-Treme, the manufacturer of the X-10, offer scooters for a wide range of electric scooters. Razor is a well know, but usually pricier option, that also offers beginner and mid-line scooters.

Thousands of people flocked to Detroit to witness the North American International Auto Show on Friday, January 14, 2011. Car admirers from across the globe walked around and gawked at fantastic specimens and rare birds. Information and brochures were handed out. It seemed like an ordinary day at an auto show, but the one thing that was unusual about this Detroit event was the lack of roars from V8 engines. SUV’s were not even allowed! There was no place for gas-guzzlers. The stars of this show were the electric and hybrid cars. So instead of roaring engines, there were quiet, whisper-soft purrs.

Carmakers displayed their newest and hottest electric cars to taunt the audience. These cars are in such high demand that the only way to get them is used. Every electric car that rolls out of the factory is snatched up. Companies are realizing that they need to up the production of these environmentally friendly vehicles. The concerns about the range and power of electric cars are slowly evaporating, and now the only problems are with the low inventory. Know that factories will begin moving these treasures out at a faster pace. Once production is boosted, expect to see more of these readily available and displayed in local showrooms. Relatively soon, carmakers hope, electric and hybrid cars will be in millions of driveways and parked in special, city supplied charging stations.

Once you are able to get your hands on a hybrid or electric car, the only issue you’ll have next is finding the right moving company that you can trust to transport your precious prize. Moving services are now developing equipment and specializing themselves in the transport of these magnificent machines. If you have an electric or hybrid car or are planning on getting one, be sure to contact your moving company of choice to see if they can accommodate your vehicle shipping needs.

The UK’s streets and car parks could see thousands more charging points for electric and plug-in hybrid cars thanks to £30 million of Government funding.

Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis today invited cities and businesses to join together to bid for the money which will help fund the installation of charging points on streets, car parks and in commercial, retail and leisure facilities.

This initiative – called Plugged-In Places – will support the development of between three and six electric car cities and regions across the UK which will act as trailblazers for electric car technology. The experiences of these locations will inform the future development of a national charging infrastructure.

Overall, the Government is investing around £400m to encourage the development, manufacture and use of next generation ultra-low carbon vehicles. Delivered by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles this support is being targeted to create new jobs in a low carbon automotive sector and to cut carbon from UK road transport.

Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis said “The UK can be a world leader in electric and low carbon cars which is why the Government has already committed around £400 million of support to encourage development and uptake of ultra-low emission vehicles.

“Our aim is for electric and low carbon cars to be an everyday feature of life on UK’s roads in less than five years. There is still a lot of work to be done, however Plugged-In Places is one very significant step putting us firmly on the path to a low carbon future.”

Encouraging companies to get involved, Business Minister Pat McFadden said: “The move to lower-carbon forms of transport is a turning point for the automotive industry, opening up new opportunities for existing UK automotive companies and with the potential to create new jobs and new industries, for example around the charging infrastructure.

“I urge British companies to get involved and seize these new opportunities for growth and jobs.

“Our aim is for Britain to become a global centre for low carbon transport development, manufacturing and delivery – the Government is backing businesses who want to help make this happen.”

The total number and location of charging infrastructure supported by this initiative will depend on local plans and requirements. The intention is that successful applicants will match the Government’s investment.

These plans build on existing measures to support alternative fuels and today the Government is announcing the seven schemes that will benefit from £500,000 of funding through the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Grant Programme. These schemes will see the provision of 72 electric charging points and four gas refuelling stations in areas across England.

The funding, worth up to £30 million, will be made available to consortia in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland made up of local authorities, businesses, electricity distributors and suppliers and other organisations like the RDAs. The funds will be made available in two phases.

Consortia will need to show how their plans fit in with other Government objectives, like improving local air quality, and create local incentives to further encourage the uptake of electric vehicles.

The new Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) will deliver the Plugged-In Places Infrastructure Framework. OLEV is a new cross- Government team, bringing together existing policy and funding streams to drive policy delivery. Located within the Department for Transport, it incorporates policies, people and funding from DfT, BIS and DECC.

OLEV’s priorities will be accelerating the uptake and delivering ultra low carbon vehicles into the UK transport mix, with a focus on the opportunities that this will have for UK business.

The Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Grant Programme is delivered by Cenex (the Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technology) on behalf of the Department for Transport. £500,000 match-funding is available in 2009/10 and 2010/11 for bids from public and private sector organisations in the UK. This funding is for a range of schemes to deliver electric car charging points and bio-gas charging stations.

The successful charging points schemes are in London (23 electric charging points on-street and in car parks, and 13 in underground car parks) and 36 in the West Midlands.

Further details on the scheme and an application form can be accessed from the following link http://www.dft.gov.uk/olev

Welcome to the next generation of driving. We’ve already seen a lot of changes across the board in the industry, with innovative automakers like Toyota and Nissan leading the way in change. Pressures from consumers, government officials and corporations for more focus on how we can reduce our impact on the economy, coupled with a general push away from foreign oil and towards more feasible fossil fuels, have been driving factors in the sudden shift in the auto industry. Thus far, we’ve seen a lot of progress made in the small and subcompact car segments because it’s simply easier to find a way to reduce the emissions on a smaller car.

A constant point of contention in the whole reform is the issue of power. How do you get the power you want in a car if you’re using as little fuel as possible? Manufacturers are beginning to make progress in this area. But the really exciting news here isn’t about the Prius – or any other vehicle making headlines for fuel efficiency. While it might seem surprising, the next big innovation in fuel economy is coming out of your Chicago Mercedes dealer. And it’s no small announcement; we’re talking about the next level of efficiency here.

Two words can sum up how big this announcement is: zero emissions. But it isn’t an electric car in the sense that the coming Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt EVs are; this is an electric car that makes its own power onboard. The Mercedes-Benz F-Cell never needs gas or recharging, unlike other fuel efficient vehicles set to hit the market. The new buzzword for fuel efficient automotive technology is “hydrogen” – the new fuel for the Mercedes F-Cell, which will eventually be available at Batavia Mercedes Benz dealers near you.

This solid vehicle debuted at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, where Mercedes execs announced that the F-Cell will be built on the B-class platform, a compact that is popular in Europe and Asia. The model type is a smaller vehicle, one that will definitely fit in with America’s new interest in more compact cars. It’ll also offer a great option for city drivers, who will be able to park their vehicles in smaller spots. Your Chicago Mercedes dealer will do well by taking advantage of the revolution in the automotive industry and coupling it to the manufacturer’s solid reputation for quality, luxury and reliability.

For Chicago Mercedes-Benz dealers, the revolution is right around the corner. With a range of about 240 miles, the F-Cell runs on compressed hydrogen to get the spectacular fuel mileage of 86.6 city-highway combined miles per gallon. As has been the tradition with many cutting-edge manufacturers focused on fuel economy, the automaker will release 200 production models in 2010 for a special leasing program. Make sure to keep up with your Batavia Mercedes Benz dealer to get the latest news on the production vehicles.

The next time you visit your Chicago Mercedes-Benz dealership, remember the new name in innovation: Mercedes.
