Welcome to the next generation of driving. We’ve already seen a lot of changes across the board in the industry, with innovative automakers like Toyota and Nissan leading the way in change. Pressures from consumers, government officials and corporations for more focus on how we can reduce our impact on the economy, coupled with a general push away from foreign oil and towards more feasible fossil fuels, have been driving factors in the sudden shift in the auto industry. Thus far, we’ve seen a lot of progress made in the small and subcompact car segments because it’s simply easier to find a way to reduce the emissions on a smaller car.

A constant point of contention in the whole reform is the issue of power. How do you get the power you want in a car if you’re using as little fuel as possible? Manufacturers are beginning to make progress in this area. But the really exciting news here isn’t about the Prius – or any other vehicle making headlines for fuel efficiency. While it might seem surprising, the next big innovation in fuel economy is coming out of your Chicago Mercedes dealer. And it’s no small announcement; we’re talking about the next level of efficiency here.

Two words can sum up how big this announcement is: zero emissions. But it isn’t an electric car in the sense that the coming Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt EVs are; this is an electric car that makes its own power onboard. The Mercedes-Benz F-Cell never needs gas or recharging, unlike other fuel efficient vehicles set to hit the market. The new buzzword for fuel efficient automotive technology is “hydrogen” – the new fuel for the Mercedes F-Cell, which will eventually be available at Batavia Mercedes Benz dealers near you.

This solid vehicle debuted at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, where Mercedes execs announced that the F-Cell will be built on the B-class platform, a compact that is popular in Europe and Asia. The model type is a smaller vehicle, one that will definitely fit in with America’s new interest in more compact cars. It’ll also offer a great option for city drivers, who will be able to park their vehicles in smaller spots. Your Chicago Mercedes dealer will do well by taking advantage of the revolution in the automotive industry and coupling it to the manufacturer’s solid reputation for quality, luxury and reliability.

For Chicago Mercedes-Benz dealers, the revolution is right around the corner. With a range of about 240 miles, the F-Cell runs on compressed hydrogen to get the spectacular fuel mileage of 86.6 city-highway combined miles per gallon. As has been the tradition with many cutting-edge manufacturers focused on fuel economy, the automaker will release 200 production models in 2010 for a special leasing program. Make sure to keep up with your Batavia Mercedes Benz dealer to get the latest news on the production vehicles.

The next time you visit your Chicago Mercedes-Benz dealership, remember the new name in innovation: Mercedes.

As an avid environmental activist, I’ve been keeping a close eye on how the automotive market has been evolving over these past few years. Disillusionment with American manufacturers was a big part of the nearly disastrous drop in sales logged during the recession, and now that the Big Three have recognized where they stand, we’ve been seeing these manufacturers pump out vehicle after vehicle employing hybrid, clean diesel and electric engine technologies that are sure to make driving a more efficient practice.

Chicago Chevrolet dealers across the city are about to give the auto industry a rude wake up call when they launch one of the most fuel efficient electric cars to hit the market yet. The much-anticipated Chicago Chevy Volt will hit showrooms at Chicago Chevrolet dealers. And Chevrolet expects this vehicle to really turn up the heat in the race for fuel efficiency.

The new Volt employs cutting-edge battery technology to travel a reported 300 miles without refueling and 40 miles on the electric engine alone. A commuter car, the Volt will help travelers with commutes less than 40 miles total drive to and from work without using a single drop of gas. And with Chevy’s recent announcement at the LA Auto Show, it looks like we’ll be seeing the Chicago Chevy Volt sooner than we expected. In the coming months, Chevrolet is poised to release the Volt to the public.

In a speech at the LA show, Robert Lutz, the Vice Chairman of Global Product Development at GM, said, “We have significantly expanded our commitment to electrically-driven vehicles at GM, and are now in the midst of an extraordinary transformation. GM is moving from a company that, for 100 years, has been based on mechanically driven automobiles, to one that will eventually be focused on electrically driven vehicles. This is a big deal.”

While Chicago suburban used car dealers won’t see the Volt for a little bit, we’re expecting that the innovative new vehicle will set the bar high for fuel efficiency in the coming years. Priced at ,000, the Volt is a little pricier but will help pay for itself in costs saved on gas. As part of the new push towards efficiency, GM is teaming up with three California utilities to help give the Chevy Volt a jumpstart. A million government grant will help distribute 100 Volts and build 500 charging stations for residential, commercial and public use.

While competitors like the Nissan Leaf are firing back after GM’s recent announcement, it’s clear that the Volt is the only vehicle of its kind thus far that will be able to back up its claims of fuel efficiency. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got plans to test-drive one of these babies as soon as possible. In the end, the Volt represents exactly what this struggling automotive industry needs and will kick manufacturers into gear in the coming years. Don’t wait until the Volt is featured at Chicago suburban used car dealerships. Stop by in the coming months to experience what all the buzz is about.

We’re all Lexus fans at heart. How could you not be? The brand offers all the luxury, power, performance and heart that any vehicle could give. And, of course, the brand is backed by an industry-leading manufacturer in Toyota, and we all know how Toyota has been shaking things up across the board in terms of innovation. My mom owns a Lexus SUV, so I’ve had a chance to really experience the brand for myself. The drive really lives up to its reputation, and even traveling as a passenger is a delightful experience when you’re surrounded by lush leather and fancy wood grained paneling.

When I went to visit my mother this past December, I hopped off the plane, grabbed my bags and was greeted by the beautiful vehicle herself. Such grace and agility, she looked like she was straight out of painting. When I opened the door, the smell of the leather hit me in a calming wave, and I sunk deep into the seat as we drove down I-90 towards her home in the suburbs. It was a pacifying experience as my mother and I exchanged greetings and news to cruise the highway in such a stealthy vehicle.

When I got back to my apartment a week later, I found myself obsessively researching the Lexus brand and came across a bit of news from a few years ago about an innovative supercar that was meant to hit Palatine Lexus dealerships by 2012. While never officially announced for production, the Lexus GS-F boasted a Formula 1-inspired sub-5.0-liter V-10 that pumps out 500 plus horsepower for the ultimate in powerful rides. Chicago Lexus GS drivers have yet to see this car, but I have my fingers crossed that the brand will put it into production and reaffirm its slated 2012 release date.

Palatine Lexus dealers couldn’t go wrong selling the GS-F, which would leverage a combination of fuel efficiency and extraordinary power to propel itself into the hearts of Chicago Lexus GS drivers across the city. So I implore and beseech Lexus execs, if they’re listening: do yourselves a favor and put this sweet baby on the market. You won’t regret doing so.

It’s about time Toyota gave some more weight to its Lexus brand with a new innovation. Some of Toyota’s work in fuel efficient technology has translated to innovations in Lexus models. Toyota’s work with the Prius has been truly groundbreaking in a day and age when it seems like the rest of the industry’s automakers are simply struggling to keep up. Chicago used Lexus GS dealers are still getting a great client base during the recession – a fact that points to Toyota’s work to stay as ahead of the game as they can.

Over 2010, as automotive sales begin to raise again in the face of huge industry innovations, we’ll hope to begin seeing Toyota and Lexus take back their rightful places as industry leaders. Your Chicago used Lexus GS dealership will again show that it is one of the best places to buy a pre-owned luxury vehicle.

Car shoppers these days are looking for all the safety, reliability, fuel economy, performance and general efficiency that they can get out of their vehicles. With changing technology, a lot of manufacturers have been focusing on eliminating engine sounds for a smoother, quieter ride. Sure, this makes us feel more comfortable behind the wheel – but could it be a safety issue?

Electric cars are storming the automotive industry at the moment as part of the effort to find alternative fuel sources, reduce emissions, and lower the total cost of ownership for vehicle owners. One of the problems (few though they are) facing manufacturers when it comes to electric cars is providing for the safety of pedestrians; the rev of an engine has become a staple of the roads, and quiet cars make it more difficult for pedestrians to hear oncoming dangers.

Nissan is leading the way in finding a solution, and Chicago Nissan dealers were titillated to find out that the upcoming Nissan Leaf low carbon electric car comes with a bit of extra pizzazz. Sound engineers have been called in at Nissan to figure out a way to make these unique vehicles a bit more obvious to cyclists and pedestrians, a move which might include the addition of a futuristic engine noise. The noise is expected to be aurally pleasing but obvious so the Leaf can keep a higher profile.

Regarding the new Leaf, Nissan noise and vibration expert Toshiyuki Tabata said “We wanted something a bit different, something closer to the world of art.”

Gurnee Nissan drivers that are thinking about purchasing the new Leaf should take these safety measures as a part of Nissan’s dedication to moving above and beyond in its industry. The proactive measure should help alert pedestrians and drivers of traffic, graciously upping the Leaf’s safety ratings in the process.

Your Chicago Nissan dealer may have to wait awhile before it carries these truly unique and innovative vehicles, but it will certainly be worth it in the end. The future of the automotive industry is something sci-fi enthusiasts like Ridley Scott have predicted in their artistic endeavors, and it’s coming soon to your Gurnee Nissan dealer.

The Leaf functions on electric power, facilitated by the lithium ion cells that are part of the front-mounted electric motor. Since Nissan claims that 80 percent of the world’s drivers travel less than 62 miles per day, the vehicle should be a great fit for a huge market of American drivers. So, Chicago Nissan drivers will be assured to know that they’re getting a vehicle that will work efficiently for their commute.

With the world’s recent push towards fuel efficiency and against reliance on oil, your local Chicago Nissan dealer is gearing up to lead the charge for efficient driving. A race has begun to take the crown as the most progressive and forward-thinking manufacturer on the market, and Nissan is truly doing its part to win that title. Head down to your local Chicago Nissan dealership today for more information.
